Hey Friends, Here I’m going to tell you about TRAI’s New Guidelines for DTH & Cable TV Operators which is coming these days on your TV screen. As there are many people who are not knowing about TRAI’s new guidelines for DTH & Cable TV operators in detail and they are having a lot of queries in your mind. So now I’m going to tell you about it in detail. In this post I’ll solve your queries related to TRAI guideline of DTH & Cable TV. Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) is implementing the new tariff rules for DTH & Cable operators from 29 December 2018 (However, it has been postponed for some time). TRAI has prescribed a basic fee of Rs 130 plus 18% GST, which is called network capacity fee (NCF). By paying this a consumer can select 100 channels including 26 mandatory Doordarshan Channels. If customer wants to select his favorite channel, then he have to pay additional charges.
TRAI’s New Rules
In the new rules being implemented for TRAI’s Cable and DTH operators, it has been said that it can not impose a TV channel on the consumers, in fact the consumer will have the freedom to choose the TV channels they want to see. Consumers will pay for their own channels of their choice. For this, all broadcasters will have to make their channels available as bouquets, which consumers can choose according to their choice. The maximum value of each channel on the TV screen will be written. No one can take more than just the fixed price from the DTH or Cable operator broadcaster.
How much money can be Spent
Under TRAI’s new rules, customers will have to pay a maximum of 130 rupees per month for 100 channels (without GST). In such a situation, if you look at more than 100 channels, additional 25 rupees will be provided for the next 25 channels. Apart from this, the fixed prices will be added to the pay channels you choose. That is, if you subscribe to see a lot of pay channels, then you may have to pay more. TRAI has said in reference to BARK’s report that according to the pattern of television viewers, 80 percent of the consumers either watch 40 or fewer channels or wipe them out. If a consumer carefully chooses a channel for the full requirement of his family, then he must pay less than the current price every month.
How to choose New Channels
TRAI has asked all the cable and DTH operators to make available TV viewers and online payment facility through their website. The list of channels on the website will be available with the price. Apart from this, consumers will also be able to select channels through call center.
Operators will not be able to change the Price of Channel’s
After the new rules are implemented, no DTH or Cable TV operators will be able to change the price of channels. The price of the channels will be same at all the platforms. If the users of two different service providers are watching the same channel then their charge will be the same.
Problems of Service Providers
The new regulation will cause a problem to the service providers. Currently they choose the package of channels themselves and show them to the users. But after this rule, each user can choose the channels or package of channels from himself, due to which the service providers have to keep and maintain the preference for each individual users separately.
